Van Vliet Lake Association

Loon Platform

The platform is ready to be filled with plants.  It was assembled while floating on the edge of the shoreline.

Our instructions were to get it in the water as soon after ice out as possible.  Well, the ice is almost out.

After the platform was pulled to its spot in the bay, concrete blocks are used to anchor it in position.  The vertical poles are to stop an eagle from swooping down onto the platform because their wing span is too wide to pass between the poles.

Ducks, geese, and herons are back on the lake.  The loons should be here soon.  We hope they choose to nest on Van Vliet this year.
